Getting Started
What happens on my first Maid Brigade visit?
Your first visit is typically a deep-cleaning-level visit to bring every room to our baseline standard. A team leader will do a walk-through with you, confirm priorities, and then the team gets to work. We always honor our 1-business-day satisfaction guarantee on every cleaning we provide.
Do I need to be home when you clean?
No. Most of our customers are not home during cleanings. You can provide a key, a door code, a garage code, or arrange to meet the team — whatever works for you. Every team member is background-checked, bonded, and insured.
What should I do to prepare?
We love to do the cleaning, but the tidying takes lots of extra time, which means it costs more for you. If you can pick up personal items from floors and countertops, this helps us clean thoroughly in less time, keeping our prices competitive. Of course, if you need extra help with tidying or organizing, please let us know. We do offer this to help whenever needed — especially with young children in the home, new babies in the home, or our busy professionals. Let us know if this could help you. Also, if you have specific fragile or sentimental items you'd prefer we don't touch, just let the team leader know or note it on your account.
Do you bring your own supplies?
Yes. We bring all cleaning products, equipment, and supplies — including certified non-toxic green products and our PUREcleaning® system on every visit. If you prefer we use specific products you provide, we can usually accommodate, though we must ensure the product is safe for our staff. Please let us know what products you would like to provide to the team. Also, we suggest that you try our supplies first since they are included in our rates. If, after that, you still prefer your own, then let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
Services & Customization
What's the difference between a recurring regular clean and a deep clean?
A deep clean addresses every surface — baseboards, doors, window sills, appliance exteriors, inside cabinets if requested — and is our reset-the-whole-home service. A recurring clean (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) is a maintenance clean on an already-deep-cleaned home. We strongly recommend a deep clean as a first visit, then a recurring schedule to maintain results.
Can I add or remove items from the cleaning?
Absolutely. Want us to skip a specific room? Add inside the fridge or oven? Rotate priority areas? Just let us know — either on a one-time basis or as a standing preference on your account.
How often should I have my home cleaned?
Most Maryland families choose bi-weekly — frequent enough to stay on top of everything, spaced out enough to be cost-effective. Weekly works well for larger homes, homes with young kids or pets, or homes with frequent guests. Monthly is a fine maintenance cadence for smaller homes or lighter use, and is our second most popular service frequency.
Do you offer move-in or move-out cleaning?
Yes — it's one of our most-requested services. See what's included.
Our Cleaning Methods
What is PUREcleaning®?
PUREcleaning® is Maid Brigade's exclusive electrolyzed-water cleaning and disinfection system. It converts tap water, salt, and a small amount of electricity into two food-safe solutions: a powerful cleaner and a hospital-grade disinfectant. No harsh chemicals, no residue, no fragrance — just clean. Read more about how it works.
Are your products safe for kids, pets, and allergies?
Yes. Our standard green products are certified non-toxic — third-party vetted for safety, effectiveness, and environmental impact. PUREcleaning® adds an additional layer of chemistry-free disinfection. Combined, it's the safest professional cleaning system on the market for sensitive households.
Do you use microfiber?
Yes, color-coded microfiber cloths are standard, so we never cross-contaminate (e.g., bathroom cloths never touch kitchen counters). Microfiber traps 99% of microorganisms vs. about 33% for cotton, meaning surfaces are proven cleaner and healthier just by using the microfiber cloths.
Pricing & Billing
How much does your cleaning service cost?
Every home is different, so we price by your home's size, condition, and cleaning frequency — not a one-size rate. Deep cleans and move-in/out cleans are priced higher. We'll provide a transparent written estimate before any work begins — never a surprise.
How do I pay?
We accept credit card (stored securely on file), checks and cash. Payment is charged the day of service. We don't require deposits for recurring regular cleanings.
What's your cancellation policy?
We ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a visit so our team members don't lose a day's wages. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a fee.
Satisfaction Guarantee
What is the 1-business-day satisfaction guarantee?
If something isn't right after your cleaning, contact us within one business day and we'll return to re-clean the area at no charge. Period. .
What if something gets damaged?
Every Maid Brigade team member is bonded and insured. If an accident happens, contact the office immediately — we'll review the issue to determine if we can fix it, replace it or reimburse for the damage. We always try to fix it first, if at all possible.
Scheduling
How do I book a cleaning?
The fastest way is to request a free quote online — we'll follow up within one business day. You can also call the office that serves your county (Rockville: 301-424-6243, Frederick: 301-698-9204).
Can I request the same cleaners every visit?
Yes. We default to consistent teams for recurring customers because it produces better results. Your team will learn your home, your preferences, and your priorities. If your technicians are out on your cleaning day, then we typically will send a different crew for that visit. We do our very best to keep the same crews in the same homes, but time off and illness can interfere. For most customers, reliability is more important, so we default to sending a different team on that visit. Please let us know if the technician is critical and we will notate your information for scheduling.
Do you work on weekends?
Standard service is Monday–Friday. We can sometimes accommodate Saturday cleanings for special circumstances — ask when you book.
Safety & Trust
Are your cleaners background-checked?
Yes. Every team member completes a criminal background check before they're hired, and they're bonded and insured before their first solo visit.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry general liability insurance, workers' compensation, and a bond for additional protection. Certificates available upon request.
Do your cleaners speak English?
Our team is usually bilingual — English and Spanish. There are some great teams that have limited English though, and we work with them on an ongoing basis to improve. They will use Google Translate oftentimes to overcome any limitations or confusion. If you have a preference, note it on your account and we'll accommodate.

Who owns Maid Brigade?
Rachel Epperly has owned and operated both Maid Brigade offices — Rockville/Montgomery County and Frederick County. She has been our business owner in Rockville since 1994. She started cleaning professionally in 1989, opened the Rockville office with her father in July 1994, and is now the sole owner. The franchise was named Maid Brigade's national Rookie of the Year for 1995 and national Franchise of the Year twice (2001 and 2015). In 2018, when the former owner in Frederick wanted to retire, she asked Rachel to take over. Rachel purchased the business from Judy so she could retire knowing the business would be in good hands thereafter.
